Summer Solstice.

First of all... HAPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Okay, so this morning I woke up with every intention to go to IHOP with Tim. However, we couldn't find one locally. So, instead we went to Olive Garden (it was Tim's first time.) Everything was going great until it came time to pay the bill. I gave my card to the waitress, named Kasey, only to have her return with a worried look on her face.
     "Sir, it declined your card." She handed it back. "Do you have another one?"
      I was sure that I had enough money in my account to pay so I told her to try typing the card numbers in. After all, the magnetic strip has been acting up lately. While she went off to try it again, I called my bank on Tim's cell. They told me I had approximately twelve dollars in my account.... the bill was thirty three dollars worth....
     So, panicking on the inside, I waited for the waitress to return. It seemed like an eternity, and I was seriously embarrassed. Nothing like this ever happened to me before! Finally, she returned.
     "Sir, it isn't taking it. I'm sorry." She seemed to be sincere in her apology. "But my manager is really cool and he said not to worry about it."
     So, I told her about what my bank had said, and I sent her back again to take the remaining twelve dollars out and thanked her when she came back.
     I felt horrible. Disgusted. Ashamed. How could I be so stupid? Tim obviously knew how I was feeling and told me to drive him to Arby's so that we could get his paycheck. It's quite a drive from Alabaster to Southern Clanton, but I was so distracted that I wasn't really concerned. Tim told me that he'd cover the remaining tab if I'd drive him back up to Olive Garden.
     All in all, the debt was paid, and I have good reason to believe that the waitress had that twenty dollars taken from her own paycheck, so I'm glad we returned it. So if you go to Alabaster's Olive Garden and Have Kasey B. as your waitress, leave her a big 'ole tip! ;)
     Later, we ended up going to the galleria. Sure, I got lost on the way.... but the funny part about that was I've been lost going up there before... in the same EXACT spot. Luckily, Tim walked me through the directions and helped me find the way again.
     Anyways, so we get to the mall and see these shoes right? They were a pair of really nice boots. Tim's eyes practically sparkled when he saw them... then we saw the tag. Turns out shoes at Buckle are just as expensive as the pants there... and that's just not in our budget right now.
     So, we went shoe cruising for a while only to find prices climbing and climbing, each time was a little more aggravating than the last. Then we went inside a really nice store with practically the same boots, except they were marked down about thirty dollars less than the other ones. Both of us got excited. Tim called one of the workers over and had them fetch a pair in his size.
      As we waited there, I could see Tim getting more and more excited.
     "I'm sorry we don't carry them in 12... but we have a pair in size 10 1/2. Well, Tim desperately tried fitting into it, but it just wouldn't go. So he sent them back.
     "We could order them for you, sir." The worker tried. But Tim just sadly shook his head.
     When we left that store, I thought he was gonna cry. He was seriously so upset, and I didn't know what to do other than to tell him that it was okay. I really didn't understand why he was so upset, and I told him that.
     He answered. "I just really like shoes..." in a croaky voice. I just felt like holding him.
     Well, shortly after, we were walking by a store when Tim suddenly stops. He was looking through the window at these beautiful boots.
     "You go in." he said. "I'm scared that they'll be too expensive."
     So I went in, flipped the shoe over, and almost laughed when I saw the price. It ended up being about fifty to sixty dollars cheaper than the Buckle shoes and, in my opinion, were cuter. Yay for happy endings!
I myself had a moment, too.
     Right before leaving, I told Tim I wanted to go to my favorite store, Ambiance. To my dismay, I found that the store had been closed. But on the way to the door I saw a store called Mountain High Outfitters.
     Now, let me tell you. TOMS are probably the hardest shoes to come across in Alabama. For the past few months, I've been looking for a new pair everywhere only to find nothing. This store carries more varieties of TOMS than I knew were even out there... AND I got mine 30% off! Well, Tim payed for him, but I'm repaying him tomorrow when my paycheck comes in... (and it's gonna be HUGE!)
Anyways, here is a pic of our shoes:
(One of mine is in the middle his)
  2. I know EXACTLY how you feel when your card got declined... I on the other hand was at the gas station on Empty on the way to work... my friend had to drive 20 minutes to come find me at a random gas station and use her card... I pretty much cried the whole time.
